Employment Follow Up Letter

I had a job interview lastweek Monday. I sent a follow-up letter after a week. I really want this job. Please tell me if this is a positive or a negative response. Help!

This was the response i got:

Your application is still being referenced, seems they are trying to reach your Front Office Manager since last week, unable to find her.
We needed to move quickly fill positions and we can not wait any longer to check your last job.

I will contact you if I have new,

When they do reference checks, it is a good sign. I would have gone to my referees if I were you and kindly asked them to take advantage of the telephone interview.
