How do you start a business of interior designa I have not done any research or anything, so do not come too hard on me for asking.
My degree in architecture, but I was always more interested in interior design and kitchen, plus you do not need a license to practice interior design in the United States.
Any thoughts, resourcesa
And where the designers get to design the catalogs from hugea (Think Candice Olson of Divine Design) Manufacturersa
Depending on where you live, you will need a permit you to call an interior designer. You may also need a permit to have a decorating business (I know you're in Texas). Maybe this will help:

Regarding the catalogs, they come from manufacturers. In general, you must prove you are an interior designer to get one for free or you may have to pay for them. You can contact the company that will put you in touch with a representative who will assist you.
It is worth checking http://mydeco.com and especially the forum there! Flag
I hope you thought that New York is absolutely required of interior designers to be licensed:

I suggest you learn a lot about this process and then you can decide if you want to be a designer or decorator. Flag
Well, if you accept checks be sure to open a corporate account or arrange for checks to you and not your business name. You can not deposit checks made to a business in your personal account if you have a DBA (Doing Business As). This is a business / personal account.
You can not cash checks drawn on your business. They must be filed and then withdrawn for tax purposes. For cash or deposit them in a personal account is tax evasion.
Staples or Ebay have the software to get you started! It will just make you know all the basics and more.
